-John Thurston, Work of Words: The Writing of Susanna Strickland Moodie
I have always identified with Susanna Moodie for many reasons — some I can explain, and some I can’t. Since I first learned of her writing — and her life — via my CanLit prof at UBC in 1995, I’ve been fascinated by her stories, her sense of self, her tenacity, her strength, and her “I don’t give a shit” attitude towards those who criticized her or thought she was crazy.
