I went to an <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bishop_Carroll_High_School_(Calgary,_Alberta)\">independent, work-at-your-own-pace high school<\/a>. I place high value on autonomy and personal freedom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s reaaaaaaaallly nice to feel valued enough to&nbsp;<strong>actively<\/strong> contribute to something <strong>bigger than all of us<\/strong>. This kind of work is what moves the world forward.<\/p>\n<p>No, really.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to my new &#8220;crew&#8221; for reaching out and making me feel valued both personally (read: chilli crab) <strong>and<\/strong> professionally (read: big strategic plans). In particular, two things really knocked me on the head tonight:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jeff: your openness and willingness to listen critically helped me process several things that I think will be clearer after they&#8217;ve marinated in the &#8220;broth&#8221; of our conversation. Talking with you is always good for my brain.<\/li>\n<li>Jabiz: your parting words to me as I headed to a taxi were so small but SO WELCOMING. I squealed in delight when you uttered them, but later en route home, I very nearly cried tears of stupefied glee thinking of those words.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">**Oh, and Keri-Lee, of course your crabtastic enthusiasm is <strong>always<\/strong> a crackup!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s truth is this: it feels good to be part of a team.
