{"id":223,"date":"2008-03-06T13:46:17","date_gmt":"2008-03-06T18:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/msmichetti.edublogs.org\/2008\/03\/06\/ok-for-real\/"},"modified":"2008-03-06T13:46:17","modified_gmt":"2008-03-06T18:46:17","slug":"ok-for-real","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adriennemichetti.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/06\/ok-for-real\/","title":{"rendered":"Ok, for real?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m all about using reflection &#8212; it&#8217;s a huge part of the learning process.\u00a0 But when my course content says this:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><strong><font color=\"#333399\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" width=\"76\" src=\"http:\/\/tripleaworkshops.ibo.org\/file.php\/69\/induction_module\/images\/pic020.jpg\" height=\"76\" \/>Ongoing reflection task:<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/font><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><font color=\"#333399\"><em>Which <strong>approaches to learning (ATL) skills<\/strong> are you using as you complete this workshop?<\/em><\/font><font color=\"#333399\"><em>As you progress through this professional development workshop reflect upon the impact this planning task had on you as a learner and relate this to the activities that your students will be undertaking.<\/em><\/font><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><font color=\"#000000\"><em>&#8230;<\/em> I gotta admit, I&#8217;m thinking:\u00a0 <em>For real?<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n<p>The AtL that I am using are the same ones I have honed over years of being a student and a teacher.\u00a0 I&#8217;m managing my time. I&#8217;m meeting deadlines.\u00a0 I&#8217;m reading.\u00a0 I&#8217;m using IT.\u00a0 I&#8217;m doing research.\u00a0 I&#8217;m reflecting.\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t there some kind of assumption that I know how to do these things already, considering I have made it this far as a teacher, and as a professional &#8212; 10 years&#8217; experience, two degrees, and lots of students who are learning?\u00a0 How does <em>planning<\/em> impact me as a learner?\u00a0 Um.\u00a0 If I don&#8217;t plan, I don&#8217;t usually get things done.\u00a0 It&#8217;s <strong>really<\/strong> that simple.<\/p>\n<p>Am I missing something here?\u00a0 Is it not this obvious to other people?\u00a0 I mean, seriously.
