gratitude plus

I have written about gratitude before. And, well, I’m writing about it again.

Today, I’m grateful for…

  1. family: even though they are far away, they have unique ways of assuring me that I am loved and cared for. Also, they make me laugh in ways that no one else can! (Who else “gets” your family like your family?) I’m especially grateful for my mum, and not just because it is Mother’s Day today. The older I get, the more I seem to understand all she’s done for me. Funny how that works. 🙂
  2. sunshine: I was finally able to sit by the pool today — for the first time in weeks, since The Boot entered my life. It felt so good. I wanted to soak up as much Vitamin D as I could.
  3. music: I had a bit of a slump this afternoon/evening as I felt some strange ennui that I couldn’t describe. I was missing places I’d never lived or called home. Places like Sydney, Paris, and San Francisco. It was unusual. I turned on some music (thank you, Spotify!) and before long I was singing and dancing around my living room — Boot on, of course! — to Justin Timberlake and Darius Rucker. Within a few hours I was feeling better.
  4. Mercy.
  5. silence: it is when we are away from the noise and the distraction and the fray that we can finally hear the truths deep inside our hearts… if we are willing to listen, that is. Hearing and listening are two different things, but I find it so much easier to do both when I’m im silence. Even just 10 minutes makes me feel more whole.
